It was the late 90s when the dance scene in Europe and in particular Portugal reached its peak. This was the starting point for Telmo Fernandez which has led him on on incredible DJ’ing career to the point of releasing his first EP with Unique 2 Rhythm in 2015.
His roots are within 90s House music coming from the United States brought by names like Tony Humphries, Frankie Knuckles, Danny Tenaglia and in Portugal by artists like Dj Vibe, House in its purest and rawest format was what best described his sounds in early 2000s.
Being involved with a big radio show in 2001 on N.E. radio station (one of the biggest in Porto, his home town) gave him great exposure and was invited to play across the city in venues like the BSide Club (famous for the Saturday morning after hours), leading him to bigger things and a 2 year residency at a prestigious club giving him an opportunity to grow as an entertainer and artist.
In 2005 Telmo sought to broaden his horizons with a relocation to the United Kingdom. He secured a residency at the biggest club in the East alongside appearances all over the city of Norwich where he remains established till this day playing at various venues across the city providing guest DJ support for Promoters that include Deep Trouble, #House, Sadiqi, HedFunk among others, a guest spot at Sundown festival opening Party in 2014 and Recently given the opportunity to open the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend Pre Party and various guest slots in some of London’s most reputable clubs.
He has played support sets alongside some of the best in the Industry including Pete Tong, Eric Morillo, Sasha, Annie Mac, Danny Howard, Duke Dumont, Low Steppa, Julio Bashmore, Copyright, Andy Daniell, and Sonny Fodera. He has also been involved at more underground events performing with DJ’s such as Gary Beck, Victor Calderone, Manic Brothers, Yousef, Carlo Lio, Alexis Raphael, Maxxi SoundSystem, No Artificial Colours among many others.
Hugely influenced by the London underground parties and a ever growing passion for all ramifications of underground electronic music his sounds can be as deep and refined as it gets or the complete opposite, fast passing, groove pumping tech house and techno to push your limit to the edge
Winning a Dj Competition in Partnership with Mixcloud and Subliminal records gave him the opportunity to open one of London’s biggest clubs (Pulse) with Eric Morillo and his famous voodoo nights in 2011 and having played all major London venues including The Egg, Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Cable and Bassing House. His first Release, the ‘Unforseen EP’, Telmo is most definitely a talent to watch.
